Over 80% of respondents in our recent stakeholder engagement support the creation of a strong, credible Professional Regulatory Organization (PRO) for Occupational Health and Safety in Alberta. Now... Off the Soapbox and onto Some Updates for You!

⭐ Your Board of Directors recently completed a review and update of our new Code of Conduct and Code of Ethics for our members and future members of the PRO. You can find copies of these documents on our website here: https://ashsp.ca/resources-links/⭐ We are starting to define areas of practice protection based on provincial and national guidelines and volunteers are essential to this process. We are seeking volunteers with a wide variety of backgrounds and designations to help us. We are hoping to start this project in January, so if you are a member in good standing and want to contribute – send an email to Christy at [email protected] and let her know you are interested! ⭐ An update on Bill 23 (The Professional Governance Act) received recently has indicated that the window for new PRO applications won’t likely happen until late 2025. The Government is committed to obtaining feedback from all the current PROs in the province to ensure that a strong Bill is passed as early as Spring 2025. While this may feel like a setback, it gives us additional time to prepare thoroughly, and we remain fully committed to being ready when the window opens. ⭐ We have been fielding a number of inquiries from members regarding their records in the back-end database of our website. Please note that there was a ‘disconnect’ between the database and our accounting system that has caused member records online to not be completely up to date and current. Christy is currently working on ensuring that all member records are accurate, however it is taking more time than originally anticipated. Please be patient while we work to get this completed – and if you have any questions in the meantime, don’t hesitate to reach out to her for assistance.
